About Manohar Parrikar:

Manohar Gopalkrishna Prabhu Parrikar is a politician of India and also a leader of BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) who has been Goa’s Chief Minister of since 14th Mar of 2017. Before he was also served as a Goa’s Chief Minister (2000 – 2005 and 2012 – 2014) and he was famously called as Manohar Parrikar.

Manohar Parrikar History:

Manohar Parrikar was born on 13th Dec of 1955 to the beloved couple named as Radhabai Parrikar and Gopal Krishna Parrikar in the town of Masupa, Portuguese State, Goa. Manohar Parrikar age is 62

Manohar Parrikar Education:

Manohar Parrikar was completed  his studied at Loyola High School, in the city of Margoa and was completed  his secondary education in Marathi and in 1978 he was graduated as a Engineer in the specialization of metallurgical engineering from the engineering college of IIT Mumbai (Indian Institute of Technology, Mumbai). He is the 1st IIT alumnus of India to serve as MLA and also in 2001 by the IIT Mumbai he was awarded the renowned Alumnus Award.

Manohar Parrikar Family:

Manohar Parrikar got marriage with Medha Parrikar. They are blessed with 2 sons names as Utpal who was an Engineer graduate in the specialization of Electrical Engineering and Abhijat  is a local businessman. His wife was died in 2001 because of illness.

Manohar Parrikar Political Career:

  • At a young age i.e., in the end of his education he joined in RSS (Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh)
  • Subsequently, entering into the politics he joined with BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) in 1988

  • For the 1st time he appointed to the 2nd Goa Legislative Assembly in 1994
  • He served as a General Secretary and also spokesman for the Goa of BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) from 1994 to 2001.
  • He elected as Goa’s Chief Minister in 24th Oct of 2000 and conducted portfolios of General Administration, Education department and Home till 27th Feb of 2002.
  • Again he was re-elected as Goa’s Chief Minister in 5th June of 2002.

  • At the same year, he was re-elected to 4th Goa Legislative Assembly in 2002.
  • After five years i.e., on June 2007 he was re-elected to 5th Goa Legislative Assembly.
  • Previously in 2013 BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) parliamentary elections convention in Goa Manohar Parrikar was nominated the Narendra Modi as the Prime Ministerial candidate, subsequently from 2014 to 2017, he served as the Indian Defence Minister in the BJP government under Prime Minister.
  • Previously he is a member of the Rajya Sabha Parliament from the state government of Uttar Pradesh.

Manohar Parrikar Awards and Recognitions:

  • Manohar Parrikar was recognized with “Indian of the Year” by the CNN-IBN on the year of 2012.
  • When he was in college he was honored with famous Alumnas Award from IIT-Mumbai in 2001
