History of the Jharkhand High Court
This court in its beginnings was a circuit bench of the Patna High Court, and happened to be a permanent Bench of Patna High Court in 1976, but it really became in the Jharkhand High court after a reorganization of the states made in November of 2000, from which the state of Bihar was divided and the state of Jharkhand was created.

Chief Justice of Jharkhand
The current Chief Justice of Jharkhand, the Hon’ble Mr. Justice Dhirubhai Naranbhai Patel, was born in March 1960. He did several university careers, in science, organic chemistry, and finally law in the L.A. Shah Law College of Ahmedabad. He has won several awards for his investigative work in the area of law and is also a skilled chess player.
He began to practice as a lawyer in 1984 in the High Court of Gujarat, covering all Civil, Criminal and Constitutional matters. Dhirubhai held multiple positions, all related to the exercise of his law degree, until in 2004 promoted as Additional Judge of the High Court of Gujarat, and in 2006 he was appointed permanent Judge of the same Court.
In 2009 he is transferred to practice as judge of the Jharkhand High Court, and from 2013 to the present, he has occupied several times the position of Hon’ble The Acting Chief Justice of the High Court of Jharkhand.

Judicial Academy Jharkhand
Like the High Court of Jharkhand, this academy located in the city of Ranchi and designed to train as much as possible Jharkhand state judicial officers who are in service, as well as all-new employees that are in a probationary period to begin to exercise their functions in the Jharkhand High Court, so that they have all the theoretical and practical tools to carry out their work.
The training consists of several courses with content directly related to legal, para-legal and judicial or quasi-judicial matters.
