WorkSafe BC clearance letter

What is a WorkSafeBC clearance letter?
It is required by law that all businesses in British Columbia that hire full-time, part-time, contract or casual workers are registered with WSBC. This way they will make sure that regulations and standards are met and they will get coverage in case someone is injured while being at work.
To make sure that any contractor with employees is covered by WSBC during the project, you can request a WorkSafeBC clearance letter.
So, a clearance letter tells you if a firm is registered with WSBC and if they are up to date with its payments and payroll reporting.

How do I request a WorkSafeBC clearance letter?
To request a WorkSafeBC clearance letter you have to go to the website of WSBC, www.worksafebc.com, and click on “get a clearance letter”. There you will have some information about it and a button that you will have to click that says “clearance letter application”.
Once you click there, a new tab will open and you will have to introduce some information. There you will have to write the information of the person who is requesting the letter, which could be a business or an individual user, and you will have to put the mailing address where the letter will be sent to.
Then you will have to find firms for the letter, which includes an employer, contractor, subcontractor or prime contractor. You can search firms by introducing their WSBC account number or their trade or legal name. In a single clearance letter, you can include up to 150 firms.
To understand the status of the firm that appears in the letter, go to the website of WSBC and check the meaning of each status. For example, some statuses indicate if the firm has paid its premiums or if it has canceled the account.
