The Central Board of Indirect taxes and Customs or CBIC is basically a national agency accountable for monitoring Customs, Central Excise, GST, Narcotics, and Service Tax in India. It formulates a policy regarding levy as well as the collection of Central Excise and Customs duties, prevents smuggling administers other issues related to the areas mentioned above. Renaming of CBEC
The earlier name of the board was CBEC. Later on, they renamed it as CBIC based on the provisions of the Central Goods and Service Tax Act of 2017.
