What is Public Distribution System?public distribution system

The Public Distribution System or PDS in India is a national system that provides food security to the poor people of the country. They distribute essential food grains for survival at subsidized prices. Significant commodities that the poor people get at subsidized rates are wheat, sugar, rice, and kerosene. PDS runs more than 478,000 shops. People recognize these shops as Fair Price Shops. It is the biggest distribution network in this category all over the world.

In case of any delay in getting food grains from a Fair Price Shop, feel free to call at the National Consumer Helpline Number and inform about the situation.
