Rani Padmini of Chittorgarh – रानी पद्मिनी
Rani Padmini, the name can also call as Rani Padmavati, was a legendary 13th and 14th-century queen of India. Padmini was a very attractive princess of the Singhal kingdom, Rajasthan. Rajput ruler of the Chittorgarh Fort is Ratansen. He heard about the beauty of Padmini from Hirama, it is talking parrot. After a brave quest, he won Rani hand in marriage and brought her to Chittor.
Padmini was born in Sinhala kingdom to king Gandharvsena and Champavati. Padmavati brought up with education in war strategies. she has the skills for the battleship. During her Marriage Swayamvar organized. It wasn’t an ordinary Swayamvar. There was a condition by Padmini herself. whoever will defeat the designated fighter in the sword battle could marry her. Padmini herself was the designated fighter. She lost the fight with Rawal Ratan Singh king of Chittor. As per the condition, she married with Ratan Singh.
Royal Court of Ratan Singh
In the royal court of Ratan Singh, there many talented and skillful people are employed. Raghav Chetan was one among all. He served the king with secrets within four walls of the palace. Ratan practiced witchcraft and black magic for his selfish purpose. He even killed many who came in his path. one day he caught red-handed by Ratan Singh and banished from the kingdom. Then Raghav Chetan settled in Delhi in one of the forests which used by Allauddin Khilji.
Raghav Chetan playing flute in the forest in a beautiful way. everyone surprised by listening to the flute. He wanted to take revenge with Ratan Singh. He got an opportunity to meet Khilji.
Story of Padmavati
He gave the details about rani Padmavati’s beauty. Alauddin Khilji agreed to it with one condition if only he could meet her in person. He found Chittor Fort to defended. to see the beauty of Padmavati he sent the word to Ratan Singh and wished to see the real beauty of Chittor.
On seeing the danger on Chittor Ratan Singh he requested his wife Padmavati to come and meet him. She aware of brutalities caused by invaders. she requested instead to let him see her reflection only. There were arrangements of the mirror so that Khilji can see only her reflection.
With the motive of revenge, Khilji invited Ratan Singh. he misleadingly seized Ratan Singh and took him as a prisoner. After hearing this every woman in Chittoor started praying for their king. Ratan Singh nephew advised a plan to save Ratan Singh. they fought very bravely but lost hundreds of warriors. Their defeat was inevitable. even Ratan Singh also died in the war.
Meanwhile, inside the Chittor fort, all the woman present in the state along with queen Padmavati walked to Jauhar Kund. They sacrificed life for their men. They wailed and sung praises of courage for their men and jumped into the fire. Padmawati was the first who jumped into the Jauhar Kund. The heat and sounds were coming out from the Jauhar Kund.
At the end of the war, Alauddin Khilji succeeds converting only the Fort made of stones and bricks to Islam. Padmavatiremainss a dream to Khilji.
