Ajmer – अजमेर
Ajmer (अजमेर) is one of the important city in Rajasthan, India. The city is earlier known as “Ajayameru” by Chouhan rulers. The city is surrounded by the Aravalli Mountains, Rajasthan State. An ancient Hindu pilgrimage city Pushkar is 11km away from the city. The famous temple name is Brahma Temple Pushkar. It is also a pilgrimage center for the famous Mosque of the Sufi Saint Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti.

History of Ajmer
Ajmer was anciently known as Ajayameru means ‘invincible hills’. Ajmer city founded by Raja Ajaypal Chauhan in the 7th century AD and in the 12th century Chauhan king Ajayaraja II expanded the city of Ajayameru. After Prithviraj Chauhan’s loss to Mohammed Ghori in 1193 AD, Ajmer became home to several dynasties. Mughal prince Dara Shikoh and powerful Mughal princess Jahanara Begum also born here.

Ajmer Dargah
It is famous for the holy Ajmer Sharif Dargah. The Dargah encloses the grave of Khwaja Garib Nawaz the Sufi saint Khwaja Moinuddin Chisti. Built in the 13th century, the Dargah is famous among people of all faiths. who gather here to have their prayers fulfilled. The Dargah has three gates – the main gate (Nizam gate), the Shah Jahan gate constructed by the Mughal Emperor and the Buland Darwaza. Anasagar Lake
Arnoraj Chauhan, son of Ajaypal Chauhan build this Anasagar Lake. It is an artificial Ana Sagar lake built between 1135 and 1150 AD. Mughal Emperor Jahangir increased the beauty of lake by laying out the Daulat Bagh Gardens near the lake. Emperor Shah Jahan built five pavilions, known as the Baradari between the garden and the lake.
Pushkar
Pushkar located nearer to AjmerCity, It is an important tourist and pilgrimage destination. World’s only Brahma temple located in Pushkar City. Pushkar also knows for his Pushkar Camel Fair or Pushkar ka Mela is an annual cattle fair and cultural festival held in Pushkar.
Taragarh Fort
Taragarh Fort built by King Ajaypal Chauhan on Taragarh Hill. The boundary of Walls is 3km and the fort can only approach by a steep slope. It’s known as one of the oldest hill forts in India and the World.
Jain Temple
Ajmer Jain temple also knows as Soniji Ki Nasiyan. It built in the late 19th century. The main chamber of the Swarna Nagari “City of Gold”, has the picture of Ayodhya made from 1000 kg of gold.
Mayo Museum
The Mayo Museum is a college founded in 1875 by Lord Mayo Viceroy of India. Mayo Museum knows as “Indian Eton” as many Indian princes studied in this college. The main building, in white marble, is a classic example of Indo-Saracenic architecture. Memorial statue of Lord Mayo is in front of the building.
