About KPSC Karnataka
Article 315 to Article 323 of the Indian Constitution clearly states the establishment of the National Public Service Commission and individual Public Service Commissions for every state of India. So, the state of Karnataka has “KPSC” or Public Service Commission of Karnataka just like any other states like TSPSC, TNPSC, CGPSC, Kerala PSC, MPPSC, MPSC etc has a Public Service Commission. The primary functions of the Karnataka Public Service Commission (ಕರ್ನಾಟಕ ಸಾರ್ವಜನಿಕ ಸೇವಾ ಆಯೋಗ) or Karnataka PSC are advising the state’s governor on critical disciplinary matters and conducting all examinations to recruit employees for state services.

History of the formation of the Public Service Commission of Karnataka
Before 1921, the State Government of Karnataka did not have any central authority or Karnataka PSC. For advising the recruitment of civil services for the state. The Appointing Authorities and the Government made appointments based on the rules and regulations of the Central Government. On 16th May 1921, the Government created an agency to deal with recruitments. And named it the “Central Recruitment Board.” Till 1940, this board remained attached to the Government Secretariat’s office.

The year of establishment of the Karnataka Public Service Commission or KPSC Karnataka was 18th May 1951. According to the provisions mentioned in the Indian Constitution. Since then it has been conducting examinations for appointing civil servants in the state.

At the time of its establishment, the Karnataka PSC’s office was in the buildings of “United India” in Bangalore City. After that, the State Government decided to shift the office to “Balabrooie” in 1951 and then to “Park House” in 1956. In 2002, on 1st March, the Commission celebrated “Golden Jubilee” with the construction of a novel building named “Udyoga Soudha.” The Commission laid down the founding stone of another new building named the “Vajra Mahotsava Soudha” to celebrate its “Diamond Jubilee.”
