History of the Bar Council of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry
The Madras Bar Council’s year of establishment was 1928. In the year 1928, on 16th July, the Madras Bar Council came into existence. It maintains the provisions of the Indian Bar Councils Act of 1926. Madras Bar Council’s first meeting took place on 9th October in the year 1928. Sir V.N. Coutts Trotter, the renowned Chief Justice of the Madras High Court, inaugurated it. The Madras Bar Council’s first Chairman was the Presidency of Madras’ Advocate General, Sir C. V. Anandakrishna.
The State Bar Council of Tamil Nadu issues certificates to eligible law graduates that enable them to practice law in any corner of the country. If you want to practice law, you need to pass AIBE or the All India Bar Examination of BCI (Bar Council of India). At present, the Bar Council of Tamil Nadu’s Chairman is the Advocate D Selvam, and the Vice Chairman is P. S. Amalraj.
