Punjab and Haryana Bar Council – BCPH
An Autonomous body, The Bar Council of Punjab and Haryana, came into existence in 1961. It came according to the provisions of 1961’s Advocates Act. The parliament passed it under Section 3. According to it the Bar Councils of each state came into existence in India. Maximum 25 members consist of this council. The Punjab & Haryana Bar Council follows the proportional representative system for the election. It means a single transferable vote from the Advocates of the Electoral of the Bar Council of the State decides everything. They follow the preferential voting for the elimination.
The Bar Council select 25 members who secure highest votes. They get into the office for the time of 5 years. The Bar Council of India elects the Chairman as well as the Vice Chairman through the election process. They are also the members of different committees.
The Apex Body, the Bar Council Punjab & Haryana, and also Chandigarh regulate all the entries into Legal Profession. The Bar Council not only admits lawyers but also gives them permission for law practice in the state.

From BCPH to Bar Council of Punjab and Chandigarh comes with their trustee committees. These committees came into existence according to 1998’s rule of Punjab & Haryana Advocates Welfare Fund. This rule came into being for both medical and financial assistance to all the Advocates. Apart from that, the Advocate’s Bar Council also framed the scheme of the Benevolent Fund. It came into existence in the year 2004 to provide financial assistance to them. It came under the scheme of insurance.
2002’s the welfare fund of Punjab advocates and 2001’s Advocates Welfare Fund Act came into existence according to the State Government of the state.
