The Chhattisgarh High Court is one of the newest courts in all of India. It was founded on November 1, 2000, when the state of Chhattisgarh was created.
It is also known as The High Court of Bilaspur because it is located in this city, the second largest populated city of Chhattisgarh. The Current Chief Justice of the Chhattisgarh High Court is the Hon’ble Mr Justice Thottathil B. Nair Radhakrishnan. He was born on April 29, 1959, son of N. Bhaskaran Nair and K. Parukutty Amma, both lawyers.
The chief justice completed his primary education at St. Joseph’s Convent and Government Boys’ High School, in the city of Kollam. completed his first career in Zoology at the University of Kerala but then studied law at the KGF Law College and the University of Bangalore.
He began practising as a lawyer in 1983 in the city of Thiruvananthapuram, capital of Kerala, and then began to serve as Senior Advocate in the Supreme Court of Kerala in 1988. He excelled in the areas of civil, constitutional and administrative law.
held different positions as Executive President of the Legal Services Authority of the State of Kerala, Executive President of the Legal Services Authority of the State of Lakshadweep, Chairman of the Council of Legal Reports, among others.
On October 14, 2004, he appointed a permanent judge of the Chhattisgarh High Court, and on March 18, 2017, he sworn in as Chief Justice of Chhattisgarh.
