FOIS – Freight operations Information system -माल परिचालन सूचना प्रणाली
Indian Railways carries a million tonnes of freight in a year & daily more than 5000 Freight trains run daily basis. Fois (Freight Operations Information System) generates nearly two-thirds of the IR revenues.
Indian Railways Freight services help in transporting Coal, iron & steel, Vehicles, motors, cement, Food grains, chemicals & fertilizers, petroleum products, Milk & containerized traffic.
These products are carried through special wagons according to the commodities. Passenger train use runs on fixed schedules from source & destinations but these freight trains are planned in real-time by the superiors based on the requirement/shipment.
Railway superior’s decision includes optimizing the schedule, route, cost-effective, wagons, locomotives, human resources & networks.
Now by seeing the growth & challenges to track the freight status, freight location & delivery details both for Indian railways & to the customer CRIS had developed a web application named FOIS – The Freight Operations Information System.
FOIS application helps in tracking and monitoring the movement of wagons, locomotives and unit trains. This FOIS now became a complete module for freight trains handling, billing and revenue collections.
