Luckily, if you live in Ontario, there is a website called Service Ontario where you can find information about every document you may need, the option of requesting them online, and all the centers available in Canada. What is the Ontario Service?

Service Ontario is a website where you can find the services that are provided by the Ontario government, related to the documentation you may need in the driving, business, outdoors, ID, certificates, and health areas. The website is available in English and French.

What kind of services can I find on Service Ontario?

If you go to the website, serviceontario.ca, you will find all the services classified by categories and each of them has very detailed information. The driving area has plate sticker renewal, driver’s license renewal, pay defaulted fines and driver’s license reinstatement, vehicle registration: plate/permit, driver records, licenses for new drivers, information about selling or buying a used vehicle, exchanging a driver’s license, enhanced driver’s license, personalized license plates, vehicle record, and accessible parking permit.

So let’s suppose you need a driver’s license renewal. You just have to go to the driving category and click on “driver’s license renewal”. There you will find a brief summary of the document, including information like the moment when you can get it or if it can be asked online. Below that, you will find more detailed information, like the steps to do the renewal, prices or what to do in specific cases. In the end, you will find the FAQ’s section.

All of the services have their own section with very detailed information just like the example mentioned above.

The other services available are business, with the option of searching, registering and renewing business names, documentation for private security and investigators and not-for-profits; health, with everything you need to know about health card renewal, replacement and cancellation, switching to a photo health card, first-time health Card, and organ and tissue donation; ID and certificates, with information about changing your address, changing your name, birth certificates, marriage certificates, Ontario photo card, newborn baby registration, and death certificates; and finally, outdoors, with information about hunting license, outdoors card and fishing license.

What happens if I don’t want to do the process online and I want to visit an Ontario Service Locations center?

Although you can get most of the services online and receive the documents by mail. You can also go to one of the Ontario Service centers to do the process or get more information. If you go to their “Locations and contact” section, you can find the centers near you by introducing a location on their location search bar, or you can see the offices that offer a service, by introducing one of the services on their service finder search bar.

Below, you can also find the list of locations organized alphabetically. For example, if you go to Barrie, you will see that they have centers in Bayfield, Burton, and Simcoe; if you go to Kingston you will see that they have centers in Bath and Princess; or if you go to Milton, you will see that they have centers in High Point and Main Street.

When you click on a location, you will see detailed information of each, but in general, their work hours. Service Ontario Hours from 9 AM to 7 PM from Monday to Friday, until 1 PM on Saturdays.
