Do you usually go to target to buy a small item and you end up spending a couple hundred dollars? Have you ever been offered to get a REDcard? If the answer to these questions is yes, you may consider getting a Target REDcard, so here are the perks of having it.
What is the Target REDcard?
In case you are a regular shopper at Target, the Target REDcard may be useful for you. This is the credit card of Target that you can only use in its stores and it has certain benefits like discounts and free shipping.
Benefits of having a REDcard
The biggest benefit of the REDcard and what draws the attention of most people is the 5% discount. From the moment you get your REDcard, you will have a 5% discount on every purchase you make every time you go to Target. This is very useful if a good part of your money usually goes to Target’s products.
However, the discount has certain restrictions, as it does not apply to certain products and services, such as previous purchases, gift cards, optical eye exams and certain restaurant merchants.
If you have a Target REDcard you also get 30 additional days to return purchases beyond their standard return policy. This does not apply to non-returnable items, purchases with a fixed return date and Target Mobile purchases.
Additionally, you get free shipping if you buy on target.com and you select standard shipping, and you get early access to events, promotions, and exclusive extras, like gifts.
Target REDcard rates, charges and fees
It is important to know the interest rates and charges of your REDcard. Even though the REDcard does not have any annual fee, you will be charged interest and fees if you don’t pay your credit card on time or if the payment is returned.
In case you don’t do your minimum Target REDcard payment on time, you will be charged a late payment fee of up to $38 and a retuned payment fee of up to $27 if your payment is retuned.
You won’t be charged interest if you pay your balance at least 25 days after the close of each billing cycle, which is the due date each month. In case you don’t do it, you will be charged no less than $1.00. So, be careful and make sure to make your payments when you are supposed to if you don’t want to end up paying more money.
Lastly, the APR is 24.15%.
