Composition of the HP High Court

In 1971 the Himachal Pradesh High Court achieved stability by establishing itself at its headquarters in Revenswood, Shimla. The first Chief Justice was the Hon’ble Mr. Judge MH Beg, and he was accompanied by two other principal judges, the honorable Lord Judge DB Lal and the Honorable Judge CR Thakur. As we said earlier, this position is held by Hon’ble Mansoor Ahmad Mir, who was born on April 25, 1955 in the village of Rajpora in the state of Jammu and Kashmir. He studied law at Kashmir University, graduating in 1978. He began to practice as a lawyer and after 14 years began to work in the judicial services of Jammu and Kashmir, in 1992. In 2005 he obtained the position of Additional Judge of this same court, being promoted to Permanent Judge two years later.

In 2013 he was transferred to the High Court of Himachal and Pradesh, and held the position of Acting Chief Justice for one year, to be appointed Chief Justice of Himachal Paradesh in June 2014.
