High Court of Karnataka
This beautiful red brick structure is the seat of the High Court of Karnataka. It is located in Bangalore, the capital city of state Karnataka, and its striking building has the name of Attara Kacheri. History of the High Court of Karnataka
In 1884 the court founded and that preceded the Karnataka Judiciary. By then the state of Karnataka denominated “the princely state of Mysore”, reason why the court had the name of Supreme Court of Mysore, and also constituted with three judges, all of the Europeans; but in 1888 it assigned the first Indian Chief Justice of this court, the Honorable T. R. A. Thumboo Chetty, who also had the position of Inspector General of Prisons.
In 1930 the court has its first name change, now as “Supreme Court of Mysore”, and also it is already in 1973 when it changed to its current name: “High Court of Karnataka”.

Chief Justice of Karnataka
The current Chief Justice of Karnataka is the Hon’ble Mr. Justice Dinesh Maheshwari, a man born in Udaipur, Rajasthan, on May 15, 1958. He graduated as a physicist at Maharaja’s College and then studied law at Jodhpur University, graduating in 1980 and beginning to practice as a lawyer just a year later. He makes his debut as a judge on September 2, 2004, in the Supreme Court of Rajasthan and holds this position in several courts such as the High Court of Allahabad, the High Court of Lucknow and also the High Court of Meghalaya. Recently in February 2018, he transferred to the High Court of Karnataka and also takes the oath as Chief Justice of Karnataka.
