In this ICDS (Integrated Child Development Services) the Telangana government providing the services of Early Childhood Care Education and Development, Providing Supplementary Nutrition, Health Services, Providing Care and Nutrition Counselling and Community Mobilisation, Awareness, Advocacy and IEC

These services are explained clearly in the following:

1. Early Childhood Care Education and Development

Early Childhood Care Education and Development means providing the PSE (Pre – School Education) for the children’s. It is one of the most mandatory services of ICDS which is considered as the backbone of ICDS.

Guidelines for conducting activities in day wise

Morning Time
Morning Activities

9.00 – 9.20

AWW should receive each child and interact with them and allow the children to interact with each other.

9.20 – 9.40

Conduct prayer and after that serve the snack (Egg/Kurkure/Chana)
9.40 – 10.00

Conduct session exclusively on good habits for two days and conversation session for four days in a week as per topics are given month-wise in the Pre-School Curriculum.

10.00 – 10.30

Take up School readiness activities for 4 + (UKG) as per pre-school curriculum and free play for 3+ (LKG) under the supervision of AWH/Others.

10.30 – 10.50

Conduct Indoor games/Outdoor game/Physical exercise/ Action Songs as per the Pre-School Curriculum.

10.50 – 11.00

Free Play for children.
11.00 – 11.20

This session is meant for storytelling by following the strategies mentioned in the Pre-School Curriculum guidelines book.  During sharing of experience session, the children should be allowed to express their feelings freely or speak on any topic on their own.

11.20 – 11.30

Free Play for children.
11.30 – 12.00

AWW to guide children to write Alphabets/Numbers etc in workbook separately for 4+ (UKG) and  3+ (LKG) / conduct activities by using Activity Book /take up Creative activities/ Scientific activities as per Pre-School Curriculum.

Afternoon Time
Afternoon Activities

12.00 – 12.15

Preparation for Lunch. Inculcate the habit of washing hands with soap and water before Lunch.
12.15 – 1.00

Lunch.

1.00 – 2.30

Sleeping time for Children. Clean and neat mats/durries should be available in all AWCs. Children should not be allowed to sleep on the floor.

2.30 – 2.50

Conduct Action Songs for 4 days in a week as prescribed.
2.50 – 3.00

Snacks (Kurkure/Chana).

3.00 – 3.30

Take up School readiness activity as per Pre-School Curriculum for 4+ UKG and free play for LKG 3+ children under the supervision of AWH/others.

3.30 – 4.00

Recap the day’s activities and prepare children to go home.

     

Friday 
(2.30 p.m. 4.00 p.m.)

AWW should go for home visits (prioritized). Outdoor games for children under the supervision of AWH.
Saturday (2.30 p.m. 
4.00 p.m)

AWW should organize the cultural activity or picnic or nature walk or celebration of birthdays or SamuhikaSreemanthalu, Annaprasanas etc. as prescribed in Calendar of activities.

2. Supplementary Nutrition

Under this service Telangana Government providing the various services named as:

  • Arogya Laxmi Program
  • Balamrutham
  • Food Model for 3 to 6 years children
  • Supervised feeding of Malnourished Children

Arogya Laxmi Program

Arogya Laxmi Program is the facility of providing “One Full Meal” for Pregnant Women and Lactating Women at the AC’s (Anganwadi Centers). Balamrutham

Balamrutham is the weaning food for the children’s who belongs between the age group of 07 Months and 03 Years. It is the new program introduced by Telangana Government under Integrated Child Development Services. Supervised feeding of Malnourished Children

The Supervised feeding of Malnourished Children is the program which has the main goal to provide children up to 05 years by “Weight for Age” criteria and by “weight for height” criteria and by the presentation of “Bilateral Pitting Odema” and need to take special care and supervised feeding of such children’s. 3. Health Services

Under this service Telangana Government providing the various services named as:

  • Immunization & Micronutrient Supplementation
  • Health Checkups
  • Referral Services

4. Providing Care and Nutrition Counseling

Under this service Telangana Government providing the various services named as:

  • Infant & Young Child Feeding (IYCF) Promotion & Counseling
  • Maternal Care and Counseling
  • Care, Nutrition, Health & Hygiene Education
  • Community-Based care & Management of underweight children

5. Community Mobilisation, Awareness, Advocacy and IEC

Under this service Telangana Government providing the services named as:

  • IEC, Campaigns & Special Drives etc

Main Objectives of ICDS Scheme

The following are the main objectives of ICDS Scheme:

  • There will be an improvement in the nutritional and health status of 0 to 06 years old children’s and pregnant along with lactating mothers.
  • Will decrease the death incidences and school dropouts
  •  Allocation of a basement for the child’s physical, psychological, and social development.
  • Will gain the maternal education which helps her to take care of her health and also her family,s health.
