Jaisalmer Fort – The Golden Fort Of Rajasthan
Jaisalmer fort is located in the Jaisalmer City of Rajasthan state, India. As one fort of the people of the old city a still resident of this fort, it is famed among very some living forts of the world. Rawal Jaisal, a Rajput king built this second elderly fort in Rajasthan State in the year 1156 AD. The city derives its name from Rawal Jaisal. It is also famed as Golden Fort because of its large yellowish sand-stoned walls. In India, we called the Golden city Jaisalmer.
The fort is enclosed by the sandy plains of the vast Thar Desert on the Trikuta Hill. It found its place in UNESCO World Heritage Site along with five other forts of Rajasthan. It happened at the 37th session of the World Heritage Committee in 2013 held in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, under “Hill Forts of Rajasthan” category.
With Jaisal’s dissatisfaction with construction at Lodhruva, Jaisalmer was established as a new capital. The Jaisalmer Fort was under the control of many rulers like Rawal Jethsi, Alauddin Khalji, Rawal Lunakaran, Humayun, Maharawal Mulraj and Gaj Singh. After Independence Day and Partition of the Country, the primal route of trade is closed. This permanently removed Jaisalmer from the International Trade. In spite of being removed as an important trading city, Jaisalmer earns its Huge Revenues from its Tourism.
