About Kerala Public Service Commission

The Kerala Public Service Commission is primarily a body that the Government has created according to the Constitution of India that clearly states the establishment of special Public Service Commission for every state of India. History of the formation of the Public Service Commission of Kerala

When Travancore and Cochin merged, it resulted in the creation of a new state, the Travancore-Cochin state. With this, the government established the Travancore-Cochin Public Service Commission according to the provisions of the 1935 Government of India Act.

Kerala became a state on 1st November, in the year 1956. It consisted of Travancore-Cochin (except Shencottah Taluk and also the Kanyakumari District of Tamil Nadu), the Kasargod Taluk and the Malabar District. With this, the Travancore-Cochin Public Service Commission became KPSC Kerala. Moreover, at present, the total number of members of the Commission is 18.
