The Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region is basically a Ministry of the Indian Government which is responsible for socio-economic development in the Northeastern states of India. The abbreviated form of the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region is MDoNER, and the Central Government created it in 2001, in September. The Ministry administers developmental works for social as well as economic development of the eight North Eastern states of India, namely, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Sikkim, Tripura, and Mizoram. The headquarters of the Ministry are present in New Delhi, the capital of India. The deciding head of the Ministry is the Minister of Development of North Eastern Region. At present, the Minister of DoNER is Jitendra Singh.
