Latest updates on the Ministry of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation
When we are talking about the rejuvenation of essential rivers like Yamuna and Ganga, enhancing water-use efficiency and restricting excess extraction of water are both equally important. The Namami Gange Mission started to clean & rejuvenate Ganga River water. According to the Water Resources’ Union Minister, increasing efficiency of water use will increase the availability of water. It will also rejuvenate the rivers. The government is even thinking about setting up plants for proper treatment of industrial effluents, and they are also trying to find better ways of sewage management.
The Ministry is focusing on increasing opportunities for the storage of groundwater as well as the construction of more significant dams such as the Bhakra-Nangal dam to increase the availability of water in the country. Sufficient water is available under the ground. Therefore, the Ministry will take significant innovative steps to improve the utility of groundwater. Proper measures are necessary for harvesting and conserving water. Formulation of a national water policy will make the work easier.
