Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple is the ancient temple of Nalgonda, Telangana. This famous temple is also known as Yoga Narasimha Swamy Temple. This temple is one of the Pancha Narasimha Kshetras.

This Yoga Narasimha Swamy Temple Mattapalli stands as one of the most prominent examples of ancient temples of Telangana, India. It encloses Yoga Narsimha Swamy as its presiding deity, one of the incarnations of Lord Vishnu.

The deity Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy wears a Kavacham or body armor of silver and has a mustache. As Vishnu is shown here as Narasimha, the incarnation is shown as half man and other half animals. The face of the deity is that of a fierce lion. It is said that the history of the temple is dated back to the 13th Century.

This Narasimha Swamy Temple situated in Mattapalli village in the Nalgonda district and located 25 km from the Huzurnagar Taluk. The temple houses three deities of Laxmi Narasimha Swamy, Sri Rajyalakshmi Thaayar, and Sri Chenchu Lakshmi Thaayar.

Several temples in Telangana dedicated to Lord Narasimha Swamy enclosed in caves. Similarly, the Yoga Narasimha Swamy Temple situated within a cave. He sees holding the Chakra in his upper right hand and his lower right hand is not visible. He holds Sankha in his upper left hand and his lower left hand will be resting on his left knee.

The west-facing Sanctum Sanctorum is accessed by the thin passageway. Mukha Mantapam, the main hall housing the deity is huge measuring 24 x 45 feet. The hall consists of 21 pillars holding up a roof of cement.

A peculiarity of this temple that distinguishes it from other Narasimha Swamy temples in Telangana is the absence of pradakshinapath around the Sanctum Sanctorum. So, in order to fulfill this ritual, people circle the Dhwajasthambha or the sacred pillars. Otherwise, they can also circle around the Hanuman’s stone image which faces Yoga Narasimha Swamy.

The Narasimha Swamy Temple is located on River banks of Krishna. The temple property provides steps that lead the visitors to the River Krishna. The temple also encloses the Ramanuja Kutam or the Kitchen where the preparation of Naivedya takes place.

The Mattapalli Temple receives huge devotees in January and May during the time of Kalyana Mahotsav and Vykunta Ekadasi.
