National Institute of Technology Warangal
National Institute of Technology Warangal or NITW is mostly known as NIT Warangal. The Institute governed by the MHRD. It is an engineering institution placed in Warangal city of Telangana, India. In 2017, it ranked 34 by NIRF (National Institutional Ranking Framework) among the list of engineering colleges. The Week ranked it 15 among the list of Indian Engineering Colleges.
It is acknowledged by Indian Government as an Institute of National Importance. On 10th October 1959, Jawaharlal Nehru, the Prime Minister laid the first foundation stone for this institute. This is the first institute in the chain of NIT’s which are 30 in India. These NIT’s are formerly called as RECs. In September 2002, this institute was renamed as National Institute of Technology Warangal.

It was first established in 1959 among 15 Regional Colleges of Engineering in the Nation. The Indian Government has approved to establish REC for Warangal for Southern Region and conveyed it to the Government of State through a letter on 30th January.
The Andhra Pradesh Government through G. O of Education Department established the first board of Governors of Warangal Regional Engineering College, engaging the Osmania University’s Vice Chancellor, Dr. D. S. Reddy as the college’s Chairman. The Classes of first batch students of Electrical, Mechanical and Civil Engineering branches was started on September 12th 1959 in temporary sheds.
Later, bachelor’s degree of Chemical and Metallurgical engineering started in 1964, Electronics and Communication Engineering started in 1971, Computer Science Engineering BTech started in 1983 and MTech started in 1987. The bachelor’s program of Biotechnology started in 2006.
In 1994, the institute selected by UK’s ODA (Overseas Development Administration) for programs exchange between India and UK in IT field. This program continued till 1999. The Institute started its MBA program in 2000. Software Technology Parks of India established in 2001 in its campus.
The college given deemed university status and renamed as National Institute of Technology in Sep 2002.

The campus has an area of 256 acres and is partitioned by NH 202 highway into CCE, main campus and the Staff quarters.
The Campus main entrance resembles the Kakatiya Thoranam, a traditional elegance. The main entrance carved with Telugu/Sanskrit words, कर्मणैव हि संसिद्धिः which means “one who works shall succeed”. The campus road network is of 12 km length.

Dr. VA Sastry Centre for Innovation and Incubation:
NITW has established a center with an aim of providing laboratory space for small industries. Innosoft Ltd and Sky have started their practicing in this center. Lakshya Foundation is an alumni-led organization also has an office here. Infosys Ltd has sponsored a project for research which carried out by students and faculty in this center.
The WSDC (Web and Software Development Cell) which developed by a team of students for enhancing of the website of the institute, semester registrations, online attendance, online feedback, hostel allotment, and online mess housed here.

Innovation Garage:
This is a multidisciplinary innovation work space which runs 24×7. It provides access to students with the latest gadgets, technology devices, and tools.

Conferences, International Meets and Students activities held in New Seminar Hall, Abdul Kalam Hall, New Conference Hall and in the auditorium.

How to get Admission in Warangal NIT?
- BTech Admissions for students of India are based on JEE-Main (Joint Entrance Examination).
- Foreign students can join through DASA (Direct Admission of Students Abroad) and schemes of ICCR.
- MTech students given admission through GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering).
- MCA Students provided admissions through NIMCET (NIT MCA Common Entrance Test).
- MBA programs admissions are based on CAT (Common Admission Test) or MAT (Management Aptitude Test) scores. There will be a group discussion and personal interview for shortlisted candidates for final selection.
- MSc students admitted through NITWET (National Institute of Technology Warangal Entrance Test).
- It also encourages applicants for Ph.D. admissions in every department twice per year, in July and December.
Student Festivities:
Throughout the year, it holds cultural and technical events. There are three major events. They are:

Technozian:
It held by the student fraternity for three days. It provides a platform for students all over India to interact and gain knowledge in different fields of science and technology.

Springspee:
It started in 1978 and cultural festival celebrated annually. It also a three-day long festival held between January End or March beginning.

Cura:
It held by Management School of National Institute of Technology Warangal. The skills obtained theoretically exhibited and amplified here.

The Distance from Hanamkonda Bus Station to NIT Warangal is 5 km. The Hanamkonda Bus station is provided with buses from various regions of India. You can travel from Hanamkonda bus stop by bus or auto.
