Tamil Nadu State is one among the 29 states of India. Tamilnadu State is located in South India and is bordered with Puducherry which is a one of the Union Territories of India along with the few south Indian states includes Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, and Karnataka. The capital city of TN State is the Chennai previously known as “Madras”.

Formation of Tamil Nadu State
Tamil Nadu State was formed on the Republic Day i.e. 26th Jan 1950 where the Constitution of India was written on that day by the former president DR B R Ambedkar.
Chennai, which was known as Madras till 1996, is the state’s largest city and capital. Marina Beach, the second longest beach in the world, is located in Chennai. Coimbatore, Madurai, Tirunelveli, Tiruchirappalli, Salem, Erode, Tirupur, Thoothukudi, and Vellore are other major cities in Tamil Nadu.

The Union Territory of Puducherry (formerly known as Pondicherry) is located on the eastern coast of Tamil Nadu. The island is in the south-east of Sri Lanka. Unlike many other parts of the country, Tamil Nadu experiences rainfall by the “north-east monsoon winds” in October-December. In this phase, the farmers in the Bay of Bengal are heavily dependent on the rains produced in the Bay of Bengal. The main river of the state is Cauvery River, which originates in the state of Karnataka and flows into Tamil Nadu. Vaigai and Tamaraparani are other important rivers.
