Formation of Tamil Nadu State

Tamil Nadu State was formed on the Republic Day i.e. 26th Jan 1950 where the Constitution of India was written on that day by the former president DR B R Ambedkar.

Chennai, which was known as Madras till 1996, is the state’s largest city and capital. Marina Beach, the second longest beach in the world, is located in Chennai. Coimbatore, Madurai, Tirunelveli, Tiruchirappalli, Salem, Erode, Tirupur, Thoothukudi, and Vellore are other major cities in Tamil Nadu.

Many people know that Chennai is the capital of Tamil Nadu. But here we give you a few statistics. The name of Madras State was changed to Tamil Nadu in 1967. Tamil Nadu is located on the southern line of the Indian Peninsula. Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and West in Kerala are in the north. The Union Territory of Puducherry (formerly known as Pondicherry) is located on the eastern coast of Tamil Nadu. The island is in the south-east of Sri Lanka. Unlike many other parts of the country, Tamil Nadu experiences rainfall by the “north-east monsoon winds” in October-December. In this phase, the farmers in the Bay of Bengal are heavily dependent on the rains produced in the Bay of Bengal. The main river of the state is Cauvery River, which originates in the state of Karnataka and flows into Tamil Nadu. Vaigai and Tamaraparani are other important rivers.
