Himachal Pradesh Bar Council
After the establishment of the Himachal Pradesh state, Himachal Pradesh High Court came into existence at Shimla according to the Himachal Pradesh State Act, 1970. This separate Hight Court for Himachal Pradesh came into being on 25th January 1971. After that, the Himachal Pradesh Bar Council got into existence at Shimla. Before that from advocates’ enrollment to the implementation of specific provisions, allied matters like advocates’ welfare and conduct or even different rules, everything came under composite Punjab Bar Council. Later On, the Bar Council of Punjab and Haryana looked after these matters.
Bar Council of Himachal Pradesh Advocate List
It was a long process. The Chief Justice of the Himachal Pradesh High Court has to nominate 15 members according to the Advocates’Act 1961 which comes under section 24(5). The High Court chooses these 15 members according to the Advocates ‘ Act, Clause (b) of subsection (2) of section 3. They choose these advocates from the Himachal Pradesh High Court.
There is one more condition. They only choose those lawyers who have been practicing law in Himachal Pradesh High Court for at least 1 year, and the journey should start from the council’s first meeting and ends when their successors’ election process is complete according to the act, aforesaid. Sh. Bhawani Singh is the perfect example of that. He became the Judge of the High Court of Himachal Pradesh. Later on, he got his promotion as the Chief Justice of Jammu and Kashmir, Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh High Court.
Apart from that, Sh. Arun Kumar Goel became the judge of the High Court of Himachal Pradesh. Later on, he became the judge of Jammu and Kashmir High Court. After the retirement, he even became the President of Redressal Commision of Himachal Pradesh State Consumer Disputes.
