University Grants Commission.
The University Grants Commission (UGC) has come into existence on 28th December 1953. Firstly University Education Commission was set up in order to report on Indian university education and suggest improvements and extensions that will be desirable to suit the present and future needs and aspirations of the country.
Later, it recommended the University Grants Commission. Its Head Office is at Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg, New Delhi. UGC has six regional centers to Monitor its Operations from Pune, Kolkata, Bhopal, Guwahati,
Hyderabad and Bangalore.

University Grants Commission comes under the Union Ministry of Higher Education- MHRD, where its intention is to maintain the Education system and to make more literates in India.
The Goal of the University Grants Commission is to provide Quality Education for All. It frames regulations on the minimum standard of Education. Monitors the colleges and universities education or further development. UGC advises the State and Central governments to make the responsible measures for the improvement of higher education and also acts as a link between the state and Union Government.
